At least that’s my theory for why people go GAGA over this stuff! And now I’m one of them! This is my haul, I only got two things cuz man….it’s expensive haha
I got the Aquamarina cleanser and Mange Too massage bar!
I’ll describe the massage bar first. It’s a bar of solid cocoa butter, that melts from body warmth so you could use the bar directly on the body to massage or let it melt in your hands and then apply to body. I got it because I wanted something super moisturizing to use on my legs, so that when I bare my legs in the summer they can shine in the sun hahah. I picked this one especially because it smells like white chocolate…well I guess all their massage bars smell like white chocolate since they are made out of cocoa butter, but the other ones had other flavors mixed in too. And I can smell something else in the Mange bar and I couldn’t really place my finger on what it was, but I read later that it’s supposed to have peppermint in it so I guess that’s what it is. It smells so so good! I got my mom to try it out too and she liked it 🙂 i dunno if I would trust it though as a moisturizer on its own [like on dry skin], but it should help lock in moisture after a shower or if you layer it over lotion. Oh yeah and the Mange bar seems like a better deal for the price cuz they are all around $7-$9 and the Mange was $9.75 for 3.5 ounces and some bars are like the same price, but much smaller.
Now onto the Aquamarina…
So being a Lush noob, I didn’t realize this wasn’t a soap when I bought it and when I went to use it I expected soap, but it’s really more like clay. On the Lush forums they describe these roll types of cleansers as “squidgy” haha. It doesn’t lather whatsoever, and you kinda just rub the stuff across your face and it leaves behind a white film and the film is kinda hard to rinse off! Like..actually really hard to rinse off. Not everyone has this experience though so maybe if I exfoliate beforehand then it can’t stick to my face, so I’m gonna try that out next. A lot of people will describe the scent of Aquamarina as fishy, and I guess I can see how they would think that, but mine doesn’t smell fishy to me, but more like it came from the ocean, probably due to the seaweed. The clay part smells like old lady floral, but I don’t hate it! I think I’m getting used to these weird, natural, LUSH scents. It’s really addicting!
I recently came to the conclusion that I have sensitive skin, after thinking my whole life that my skin wasn’t sensitive. But then I started thinking why is my skin always red or pinkish? And then I thought maybe my skin is sensitive or even has a mild form of rosacea. That’s why I picked out Aquamarina because it’s supposed to be soothing to sensitive skin and reduce redness because of the calamine in it. So far I think it has helped with my redness. A con though is I can see how it could be drying since one of the main ingredients is kaolin clay, and the first time I used it I really had a problem rinsing and my skin ended up feeling tight later. I want to try Dark Angels next! The sales associate recommended it to me, but they sold out at the store I went to.
LePooke did a video about how if you order LUSH from the UK it’s cheaper cuz they price their stuff a LOT cheaper over there for some reason. Maybe over there it’s really normal to buy lush like, “oh it’s just LUSH” haha I dunno!
So there you have it, my new obsession. Please help me so I don’t buy up the whole store!
*PIC HEAVY* well, at least for me it’s pic heavy…haha
$19.00 from TKBTrading.com
Gloves, Spatulas, plastic baggies
Dust mask [i got the kitty one, YESSS!]
8 jars, lids, sifters [top view]
Matte texture Base
Pop Mica colors
To reach the 19.50 minimum, I also ordered a sample of titanium dioxide, which is a matte white
This is the difference in color between the matte texture base [L] vs. the titanium dioxide[R]. The titanium dioxide is more opaque
I want to order other matte colors too so that I can have a wider range of finishes for my eyeshadows and to give them more depth. If you go under the crafts section of the site and click on “This That”, you can add the Freebie Sampler to your cart. It is the stuff that they allow you to have 1 each for free, for example mini tweezers, a small travel brush…etc.
I stumbled upon this site through the Makeup Masala Blog*, where she mentioned their cocoa butter lip balms. They looked good enough to eat and that’s what made me curious about the site.
And then when I was looking around some more I saw that they have makeup organizers, which is another thing I’ve been lemming lately! And they have one of those cool lipstick organizers for only $11.99!
And thenn when I was looking at their makeup brush section, they had a bunch of odd brushes that I have never seen before. Check out the lambswool paddle! It looks crazy and luxurious…crazy luxurious. Could be useful too…
I never bought anything from them before, but now I’m very tempted to, haha. Well if anyone has had any experience with this site, let me know.
* This blogger also has her own beauty store where she [at least I’m assuming it’s a female blogger, you never know though!] sells NYX, e.l.f., gel liners, and false eyelashes to name a few, so there’s another etailer to check out! I love that the prices fit my budget and that you don’t have to spend a lot to qualify for free shipping either! Which is awesome for people like me who can’t participate in the MAC friends and family sale ...POOP!
I know these Jane liners isn’t big news to many, but it’s new to me because I just got them! So I’ll just put in my two cents about it, since my opinion seems to differ from other bloggers about these particular liners…
Here are the Jane liners with the Coastal Scents liner in the middle. The Jane gives you 0.17 oz/5 g. of product while CS is 0.11 oz/3 g. so with CS you get a little less. They cost about the same, but if you can get the Jane ones on BOGO, then they you’re really only pay a few bucks each!
This picture was taken with flash
I feel like the CS liner is a bit more pigmented than the Jane black one. The one gripe I have with the Jane liners is that their texture is super dry! I really have to work my brush in the liner for a while to get product onto my brush and it makes it harder to apply too because its like tryin to put a dry pencil eyeliner on your eyes and it skips places and you gotta go over it twice to get good color. I mean I guess I should have expected that since these are basically the cheapest gel liners out there [oh wait, now that I think about it Wet n Wild has cheap ones too! never tried them though], but it seems others have had better luck with them. I did not care for the brush, the bristles are not in a straight line, like some parts are thicker than others so it makes for imprecise application. However I’m decided to use these Jane brushes as a backup eyebrow brush, so that’s cool.
I continue to use the Jane liners because I had a bad experience swapping so I didn’t really want to do that [unless someone can make me an offer I can’t refuse! haha] and I like the brown color! It’s hard to use, but I still try to make it work cuz otherwise I would need to buy another brown gel liner in a different brand. So yeah, they’re ok. Good for beginners… I have a feeling that you would have to use the liner pretty much daily so that the top doesn’t dry out and get like a dry skin that you have to break through to get to the more moist liner underneath it. I would give the Jane gel liners a 7/10 nuts. The price is good, pigmentation is good, it’s just the texture that’s EH to me. I don’t think I would repurchase though haha sorry.
And in an effort to make up for lack of posting, I have a FOTD for you all too! So I was going to visit my friend and they were gonna have a going away party for her cousin during the daytime so this was my FOTD
I kept it neutral and light since it was in the afternoon. Oh yeh and I used the NYC white eyeliner on my waterline, so I don’t know if you can tell but it really opens up my eyes!
I forgot to apply mascara before, but this is after mascara
– Revlon Colorstay in Fresh beige on t-zone, Medium beige on cheeks
– Neutral Estee Lauder quad with grey, brown, shimmery tan and matte cream
– MAC Elegant Peach lipglass [LE] on top of NYX Circe
I did the matte color all over, then the grey in the contour, some brown in the crease and the tan on my lid under the contour. It’s boring haha and it’s what I do almost every time.
This is my friend Audrey, the one who’s house I went to. I love her and I wish we could see each other more often, unfortunately our schools are 2 hours away from each other!
She let me trim her bangs
And she let me do her eye makeup! Super gorgeous!
I hope she doesn’t mind me posting these HAHA. Don’t worry audge, you’re a star! Oh yeah, my bruise in that pic…you wouldn’t believe me if I told you where I got it. So Yeah haha
I have my “monthly visitor” so it’s kinda a yucky day for me, but I’m gonna try to enjoy the sunshine anyway! YES SUN FINALLY! Hope you enjoy your day too!
Any questions or comments, feel free to leave a comment or e-mail at Nuts4makeup@gmail.com!
And for those who don’t celebrate “easter,” happy hunting for chocolate eggs day!
My family ordered some crispy pata [deep fried pork leg, it’s a Filipino delicacy!] and it was soooo fatty and delicious.
I have a short review on N.Y.C. eyeliner pencils!
The last time I bought a NYC eyeliner I think I was in middle school, but I wanted to try them out again because the waterproof pencils were getting good reviews on MUA. The pencils were surprisingly more pigmented than I remember from before. I was especially happy with the black and the white pencil I got. The brown, I was originally gonna use it as a brown eyeliner, but I found it wasn’t dark enough for my liking so I started using it for my brows and it turned out good because I can get a fuller brow with pencil than with powder.
Here is an EOTD where I used all 3 of the pencils
I used the white on my waterline to make eyes appear bigger or less tired. I lined my bottom lashline with a bit of black and used the brown on my eyebrows.
I’m glad i didn’t go ahead and buy the Sephora eyeliner pencils that I was eyeing because the regular wood eyeliner from NYC costs a dollar and the waterproof one costs around 4 dollars versus the Sephora ones which cost $5-$8. I might still pick up a brown one from Sephora though. I would definately repurchase these and I love that you can buy it almost anywhere and they’re so cheap!
HI EVERYBODY! i’m back!
i have a review on Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and also the Target Cetaphil knockoff which is almost exactly the same. They have the same ingredients in the same order, and it feels very similar too. I started using it just cuz my Olay [you know they used to call it Oil of Olay and they don’t anymore…that makes me feel old for some reason haha] Moisture Balancing foaming cleanser was running low and I wanted to try new things just to break the monotony of using the same cleanser…I don’t actually have a good reason to change cleansers, I actually really like the Olay one. And it’s cheap…yeh. But anyway!
This cleanser has a ridiculous amount of reviews on MakeupAlley and it doesn’t necessarily have a high repurchase percentage but I think it’s cuz of the consistency of the wash. It’s like a lotion, and it does not lather or foam whatsoever. I think that’s part of why it’s so gentle. And I think people probably either love that it doesn’t foam or they hate it. Also in my experience it’s not the best at removing makeup.
I initially was using the Cetaphil because it’s winter and I wanted to wash my face twice a day without it being stripped so I started using the Cetaphil and it worked GREAT for the morning when my face isn’t so dirty to begin with. And then I started using it at night and I was really skeptical about if it would be able to handle the dirt, oil, sunblock, and makeup from the day and guess what….after using it for about a couple weeks, morning and night, I started breaking out! In small pimples all over my face, small red ones and whiteheads too. ARghhh, those were totally not there before I started using it at night. So basically I just use it for the morning now and it’s good for that. And I’m so glad that I could just use the Target one since Cetaphil is sorda pricey for a drugstore facewash. Like the lowest I have seen it is 10, sometimes 12 bucks and yeah it’s not super expensive, but the Target one is a better deal. For a morning facewash I would give it a 5 out of 5. For a night facewash I would give it a 3 out of 5.
I wanna try to get the other 2 or 3 colors if I find them on sale. Revlon is discontinuing this series, but I still see it around sometimes and some places are selling them for really cheap to get rid of their stock, while others are still selling it at retail price which is around 10 dollars. I got all of mine for less than 3 dollars 🙂
Very cute nude colors! Link to my other post about Mix n Mingle glosses
1. Foam hair curlers – for when I let my hair air dry, but I want it to curl or have volume at the same time
2. Pedicure file – my ghetto ped egg haha! It actually has a rough side and then a smoother file on the other side and it catches the shavings too
3. Hand sanitizer – I was watching a video by xsparkage and she said that she always uses hand sanitizer before doing her makeup since her hands will be touching her skin and I thought that was a great idea since I’m kinda a germaphobe too
4. Tweezers – I don’t know where I put mine and I don’t feel like turning my room upside down to look for them. I’m actually surprised that these work, and since it’s only a dollar, I could afford to lose my tweezers…I always do anyway haha
5. Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer – I just read reviews of this on Makeupalley before leaving the house and how people were sad that it was discontinued! I picked up the last light shade and they had several of the dark shades. I needed medium, but I figured if I mix light and dark it will be medium, right? 😀
Some other dollar store “beauty” items:
Microfiber cloths for exfoliating or drying hair faster
Aspirin to make aspirin masks
Alcohol to sanitize things and make brush cleanser
Cotton swabs and cotton balls
Travel size bottles, containers, spray bottles
Hand held mirrors
OH speaking of bargain stuff…at Rite Aid today, they had some random items for 75% off. I don’t know if it’s every Rite Aid or just the one I went to, I got some mascara for $1.92! And that was after tax! But a lot of the items that are marked 75% off are sold out so you better hurry!
